Alex from Fenerbahce to Revolution?... Ridiculous or is the one of the DP's we've been promised...

Rumors... well MLS Rumors... has reported that Brazilian star Alex may be moving to New England, but there is some actual Turkish press backing this one up.  Aksam Spor, Gazeteport, and Fotomac all have reports on this move and may even suggest that an offer may have been made.  Our Turkish isn't that good... basically we just use Google Translate, so if you can translate some of these reports for us please let us know.

So let's break down some of the facts on Alex... 33 year old midfielder who is currently captain for Turkish side Fenerbahce, played for Brazil from 1998 to 2005 and served as captain for the national squad.  He has played for Cortiba, Palmeiras, Cruzerio, as well as short stints at Flamengo and Parma.  Alex has been at Fenerbahce since 2004 and in that time has scored over 100 goals.   Despite his age this season he is still responsible for 12 goals and 6 assists, if he can come to the MLS and put up these numbers, especially with the Revs he will be a huge asset.  Pair him up with a top target striker (Robbie Keane anyone... damn what a team that would be) and the Revs would have a powerful offensive core to build the team around.

Alex is a major name Brazilian who played for Cruzerio one of the most strongly supported  Brazilian sides by the large New England Brazilian population, his is a name that would hopefully have the off the field effect that has been cited so many times by the Revs FO.  This seems to be another win-win player for the Revs, now all that remains to be seen is if this is true, and if it is will the Revolution be able to pull the trigger...

  1. As always, I wanna believe but I've been reading how this is also possibly the result of a mistranslation.

  2. There are for sure questions about the translations, however, It still mentions both Alex and the New England Revolution in the same article... shit even the same sentence, and well that's a start...

  3. I would take him in a heartbeat. I'm sure playing at Gillette will be just like playing in Istanbul.
