Quality of Life Index (2012): Pre-Season

Pre-Season Matches

Win vs. FC Tucson
Win VS. Boston College
Win vs. Boston College
Win vs. LA Galaxy
Win vs. New York
Win vs. Real Salt Lake
Draw vs. LA Galaxy (2-4 PKs)

Who is this team and what have you done with the Revolution? There is no question that the Revs put together a pretty impressive pre-season. Although it is only pre-season, it was hard not to get excited about this team.  They looked shaky against LA in the Desert Diamond Cup final, which is a cause for concern, but here's to hoping it was just from being tired and hopefully a rested team will be ready to do battle against San Jose. 3 points for a win, -3 for a loss, 0 for a draw. PLUS 18

Moreno Leaves Pie on the Face of Burns

Our Number 9! Wait he's not coming, no wait he is, no wait we're unsure, no he swears he's coming... he's getting his visa! All is good!!   The Moreno guy better be the savior of this team at this point if/when he shows up. The fans are disgusted by this whole situation, it makes the player and the team look bad. He has a lot to prove when he shows especially when it seems like the fans don't even want him at this point. MINUS 10

Saer Sene

While he hasn't been all that exciting in pre-season many have high hopes for Sene.  He has a strong pedigree and certainly looks like the type of player that could really find his place in MLS.  In addition this is a guy that seems like he's really excited to be here and really wants to make an impact... who doesn't like a player like that (Moreno... pay attention)? Unfortunately he's starting the season with an injury and won't be available tonight... sigh... deja vu? PLUS 5

Glorious. PLUS 1

 Revs Pick Up Lee Nguyen

The Revs acquired Lee Nguyen through the waiver draft from Vancouver.  Vancouver originally picked up  Nguyen through the fog and mirrors show that is an MLS weighted lottery when he decided to come back to the US after playing in Vietnam, and Europe.  Nguyen has US National Team experience and adds even more depth to what is looking like a very strong midfield.  Though we must question why he was dropped by Vancouver after using up a lottery entry to try to get him.  Heaps however seems quite excited to have him, only time will tell. PLUS 5

Spring Cleaning

The Revs waived both Zack Shilawski and Ryan Kinne. Kinne never got much playing time under Nicol, whereas Schilawski had plenty of opportunities and never was able to make much of them.  It's nice to see Heaps is getting rid of people who just aren't going to cut it here. PLUS 10

Brettschnieder, Purdie, Roach Signed

Brettschnieder picked up on waivers, Purdie and Roach from the Supplemental Draft, were all signed this week after making good showings with the team during pre-season stints. They all look like decent quality depth signings and are young.  Hopefully we'll see Heaps working to get these guys to  starter quality, something that didn't seem to happen with these types under Nicol. PLUS 9

NESN Starts To Realize The Error Of Their Ways

NESN's soccer account on Twitter sent out an apology to Revs fans for not covering the team adequately.  They seem to be making good on their promise to cover the team in their backyard more instead of focusing solely on that red team across the pond.  While it seems like a little thing, it's the first time an local media outlet has acknowledged that they have failed the fans of this team, and promised to do better. Media coverage in any form can only help this team and build the fanbase  We're looking at you next Boston Globe. POTENTIALLY PLUS 34 (If they make good on coverage through the season...)

Jeremiah White Finally Joins the Revs...

Midfielder Jeremiah White, who was drafted by the Revolution in 2004, is finally joining the team.  White opted to play in Europe where he had stints in Serbia, Greece, France, Poland, Saudi Arabia and was a teammate of Feilhaber at Denmarks' Aarhus (I always think of this when I see that tam name).  White has a USMNT cap, and trained wiht the Revs through most of the offseason. You Pick The Goal Song

Ok so I am pushing my own agenda (seriously when am I not?) By telling you the only options are either Josephin, a long time supporter and Rev Army member, or The Adicts, a classic punk song that's use for this team is way overdue.  I'm torn so I will vote for each one every other day... you should too  That being said, bravo Revs, this is the sort of thing that gets us involved and that we like to see. PLUS 2 (THERE ARE ONLY 2 OPTIONS!)

Stadium

We should hopefully have something to report in the next 2-3 months according to Bilello... I also have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale... no deed though.  Talk is cheap, the words hopefully and try are getting old... give us something of substance or at least admit things aren't going as you'd like them to, It's been what 5 years of the same BS?. MINUS 5

Final Thoughts

There is a lot to be excited about going into the season, yet there still seems to be instance of the same ol' same ol' coming from this team (Look at our new boss same as the old boss!).  There are still question marks as to who our prolific goalscorer will be, we really should be getting a DP forward. Left back is still a concern... after like 3 seasons (wait it's that way with forward too isn't it?) sorry Tierney.  Our midfield is strong, lots of depth there.  I would still like to see Runstrom and Lechner signed, and they may still make it here, we can still clean out some of Nicol's 'depth' and make room for more additions, hopefully we actually use the summer window to really make a big signing and not a little dutch boy sticking his finger into the whole in the dam.

OVERALL: PLUS 51 (With the potential for an additional 34 if NESN actually follows through on their promise)
LAST QoL: PLUS 15
