Revs News, League News, Good News, Bad News, No News Is Good News?

Ok we don't know where that headline came from (I think I just need some sleep) and it really has no bearing as to what we are going to write here other than it being a quick news wrap up.

Injury Suspicions Have Been Validated

We heard via Kyle McCarthy today that Didier Domi has returned from camp in Kennesaw, Ga. to Boston have further treatment for the his right knee.  Later today we learned that Ousmane Dabo who has been having issues with his quadriceps will not be available for the season opener next week in LA.  We voiced our concern over potential injury concerns when Domi and Dabo were signed, being aging and out of form players.  Unfortunately these injuries have apparently started before the season has even gotten underway.  These injuries have been reported throughout the pre-season however we were waiting to comment on them hoping it was just the team being cautious while the Frenchmen worked some kinks out.  The fact that we know Dabo will be out for a game over a week away makes us worry that he may be gone for longer than that since the decision has been made already to keep him out.  Dabo was supposed to be a big signing for us and help turn the team around and now he will not be available due to injury, bad way to start off the season.  Injuries seem to be a persistent problem with this team and it's time to wonder if there is something wrong with the training sessions and/or trainers.  According to Nicol, Domi is not experiencing any pain but just swelling and he hopes to have him available for the season opener.

Ch-ch-ch-changes...

Hope you wrote down the Revs game days on your calendar in pencil because we have more changes to the schedule, as if moving our NYRB away game wasn't enough.  So the game against Philly was originally on Saturday July 16 will now be on Sunday the 17th... woo Sunday games... [insert sarcasm here].  The second change is FC Dallas on September 11th will now be moved to September 10th... hooray Saturday games!!!  Rumor has it that there may be a friendly on 7/14 which is part of the reason for the Philly move.  We have a couple issues with the Philly move... 1) We shouldn't be moving a regular season game for a friendly, it's bad form 2) This means that the Revs will now be playing 4 games in 10 days... when they have almost 2 weeks off prior to that... can you say fixture congestion?  Now I will gladly admit that I enjoy friendlies because it's nice to see other teams and styles of play, however the only way I can give a pass on this July schedule shuffle is if the team is a top 3-4 EPL, La Liga, Serie A or Bundesliga team.

Sweet Dreams Are Made of These

I'm not going to even bother commenting... not sure talking about this is even worth it anymore...

Don Garber on a stadium for the Revs "I do believe it's not an if, but a when."  Garber also said with a downtown stadium Boston could become Seattle... well minus the inventing everything (ok so I did make a comment).

Garber also again spoke of rivalries and how it was important to grow them and take what's happening in the Pacific Northwest to other parts of the country including an I-95 rivalry.  We call shenanigans on the the I-95 rivalry, if it were something they were truly trying to nurture, our away game against NYRB would not have been moved to a weeknight, our away game at Philly would not be on a Sunday, or home game against Philly would not have been moved to a Sunday and our DC United away game wouldn't be on a Wednesday.  You want a rivalry Don? Stop putting games against teams that would have traveling fans on inconvenient nights.
